Are We Bored Yet?
By Staff writer KJC
Boredom, It’s the catch phrase word you hear a lot these days. If you surf the internet chat rooms it’s probably the thing heard most often, that is other than who’s looking to hook up. And that’s a topic we will by pass very fast.
Boredom that feeling of numbness that creeps on you without you realizing it. Or does it?
We seem to miss all or most of the symptoms of boredom, and yes, I say symptoms because boredom really is a dis/ease. It is a disease of ones energy, their spirit. Some would argue it’s just a phase and not pay any more attention to it. The danger that lurks in that belief is so dangerous that few might admit it could lead to worse symptoms.
When the laughter dies back from those critics that would claim its nothing to be concerned about we will continue.
Boredom after all is connected at its heart to the empowerment of a person. An empowered person on sensing a numbness of energy would get involved in some activity to be proactive rather than reactive or should I say inactive. To be bored is to be boring in effect. So the best cure is to do something that interests you. Settling on entertaining yourself constantly to fight boredom will in the end not work. In fact it will make matters much worse. You only end up becoming addicted to needing someone or something to entertain you.
There is a growing population trend of needing to be entertained, of not using ones mind on there own. If you are not feeling entertained enough you change the station of your attention as if you are changing the channel on your television. Now enjoying good entertainment is not bad, the key word back there was in needing to be entertained. The need tends to signal an issue.
There are all sorts of attempts to entertain us, the latest craze for awhile has been reality television shows, of which we are slowly becoming to realize many really are more scripted and set up than real. People sit and watch actual court proceedings on television as if they actually have some sort of vested interest in the outcome. Sitting in ones home and listening to people scream at each other on television just seems not to be a healthy type of entertainment if it can even be considered entertainment.
Boredom, a word so commonly used people don’t even seem to realize what they are saying when they freely admit to it. Not that there should be a scarlet letter of shame attached to it, but if people truly realized what they were admitting they might take a second thought before admitting, and instead be proactive in there life to correct the issue instead of numbly sinking deeper into it.
Boredom, If you keep that friend around for too long it leads to depression. Then for most the only way out they can sense, since their really not able to sense anymore very clear is to be medicated. Medicated to be happy, - It’s a chemical deficiency after all we are told. That may be true, but that is the outcome the wound so to speak is it really the cause? If you allow yourself to wallow in simple negative thinking patterns they can overtake your emotions to untold ends.
The power of positive thinking of positive living creates healthy chemical copiousness that creates miracles that cannot be denied. The chemistry of a person is effected by anything they consume. When you eat we are told the food alters your bodies chemistry almost automatically. A drop of essential oil on your skin only takes minutes to enter your blood stream. Rubbing garlic on your bare feet and putting your socks back on ends up giving you garlic breath a little while later. What does all this say? To me it says we are effected greatly by the things we encounter the things we include around us.
To be more aware of how we feel seems the best alternative to giving up our empowerment to boredom and a scripted reality set forth for us by others. Live life and learn to be. If you cant be happy just being, you really can’t be happy in doing. Listen to your body it is actually telling you what you need.
I hope you didn’t become bored reading this.
